Steven Miller is alliantgroup’s National Director of Tax and served as the former IRS Acting Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner for Services and Enforcement, leading all IRS interaction with taxpayers. He was also Commissioner of the Large and Mid-Size Business Division, overseeing IRS audits and other dealings with large taxpayers. With more than 25 years of experience at all levels of the IRS, Miller earlier served as Commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division, where he supervised the IRS oversight of governments, tax exempt entities and retirement programs.
Dean Zerbe is alliantgroup’s National Managing Director and served as Senior Counsel and Tax Counsel to the U. S. Senate Finance Committee. Zerbe worked closely with then-Chairman of the Finance Committee, Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), on tax legislation. During his tenure, he was involved in all major tax legislation signed into law.
Kathy Petronchak is alliantgroup’s Director of IRS Practice and Procedure and the former IRS Commissioner of the Small Business/Self–Employed Division. She worked directly with small and mid-sized businesses and practitioners on compliance with IRS standards. Petronchak has 34 years of experience in directing IRS compliance activities and providing tax controversy services, including heading key IRS work on abusive tax shelters and serving in other high proﬁle positions. She previously served as Chair of the AICPA IRS Practice and Procedures Committee.
Mark W. Everson is alliantgroup’s Vice Chairman and served as the Commissioner of the IRS from 2003 until 2007. Prior to joining the IRS, Everson held Bush administration posts as Deputy Director for Management at the Office of Management and Budget and was Controller of the Office of Federal Financial Management.
John Dies is alliantNational’s Managing Director of Tax Controversy. As an experienced trial attorney and former partner in a litigation ﬁrm, he has represented hundreds of clients and tried cases to verdict throughout the United States, including U.S. Tax Court.
